Biographical Statement

Dr. Poernomo was born in 1958 and obtained a PhD Degree at The University of New South Wales, Australia. He started his career as a Research Scientist in 1982 and held the position as Director General of Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research and Development during 2013-2015. While serving as Senior Advisor on Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs to the Minister of Marine and Fisheries , he was assigned also as Special Envoy of Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries on Climate Change. He is also Council Director member of South-East Asia Fisheries Development Centre  (SEAFDEC). He has published almost 100 papers on fisheries research and policies. He was recently awarded SEAFDEC Most Distinguished Person in the commemoration of 50th SEAFDEC Aniversary.  After his retirement as Senior Advisor, he is now a Senior Lecturer in the Fisheries University . His fields of interest are Fisheries Management, and Seafood Quality and safety.
